"Whoever receives one such child in My name receives Me"

2009, Jan 22

The charity service of the St.Nicolas church on Askoldova Mohyla together with the American friend Mr. Eric and his team visited the orphanage for handicapped children in the village Potiivka in the Zhytomyr region. There were 13 children in the orphanage at this moment of Christmas vacations, who did not have anybody to go to for such great holidays. Our visit was a grand occasion for them in this God-blessed time.

It was as well important for us to meet these children and pay our attention, care and of course presents. It was amazing how easy and fast the children made contact with our friends from America. The children were absorbed with the drawing and coloring the Nativity scenes. They talked a lot and expressed the joy of obtaining the presents, especially the mandarins. Mr. Eric sponsored the purchase by our charity service of the presents to all 120 children from the orphanage. All the presents will be waiting for every child, little or bigger one.

The orphanage supervisors provided us with the names and home addresses of the youngest children. We kindly ask our parishioners and donors to pray for these children, help them and pay their time and attention to their needs.

Volunteer Vitalii Hordienko joined us with our American friends. He told the children the stories about Christmas traditions. Dear parishioners, please express your willingness to visit these children next time in March. Spend some of your time and care on them.
